2003, amazing! Can you tell us more?
Mistress Natalya Sadici: In 2003, I contacted a commercial dungeon to ask if they were hiring. I had already been in the BDSM lifestyle for a little bit before this. After working there for a year, another Pro Domina put me in contact with a local FemDom video company to start doing some filming. I’ve shot with a variety of photographers throughout the years, but mainly focused on private sessions. It wasn’t until 2009 that I started dabbling more in the video realm of FemDom.
There are some things I anticipated as a result of being a lifestyle player first, though I didn’t expect how differently people film! I feel very fortunate to have experienced a wide variety of approaches throughout the years. It’s enabled me to learn from different producers and see what works for me when filming on my own.
We all know that being an online content creator is a 24/7 job. How do you keep up with the workflow and demands of today’s industry?
Setting realistic goals, maintaining strict boundaries, and realizing when a set schedule needs to change have all been important to continued evolution.
My goal has always been longevity in this industry, so, I keep detailed notes and journal a lot. This way I can see if I’m approaching burnout and need breaks. My detailed notes also help me maximize shoots. That way, I can make the most of my time and footage.
What are some other things people think are easy about your job but are actually really challenging?
Those who aren’t in the industry often think shoots can be quick and regular uploads mean instantaneous success. This work requires maintaining focus on a variety of moving parts: pre- and post-production, marketing and promotional strategies, forging bonds with fans, adapting to ever changing industry standards, and much more.
It’s a lot for one person to take on and maintain. A non-industry friend recently said, “you’re all super human!” We can all make it look easy when passion drives us.
What’s your favorite feature on Loyalfans?
I love that we can make posts for subscribers, but decide on whether or not a non-subscriber can purchase the content. This allows freedom to make things exclusive and incentivize subscribing or allow a la carte purchasing for those with specific fetishes.
People often feel A LOT of pressure to get a bunch of gear when they first start creating content online. What do you think are the most useful things to have when you’re very first starting out?
When first starting out, I think the most important thing to get is hard drive storage space. It can be gone through quickly when experimenting, and it’s essential to back up your work! Technology failures can happen and it’s important to protect your time and efforts.
My first big gear upgrade was a DSLR camera that films in 4K. I down res my content for smaller file sizes, but can up res it in the future.
What’s one thing you do for work that’s “unexpected”…like, no one does this except YOU?
This is a challenging question, as many of us branch out into a variety of things!
A few years ago, I helped produce a variety of BDSM and fetish educational videos for a company. Not only was I responsible for the video, audio, and lighting, but I also directed individuals to speak succinctly on these topics. Many of these people hadn’t presented their knowledge on camera before. Developing a rapport with them whilst staying on schedule and giving the company what they wanted was a massive challenge.
What’s your go-to selfcare activity or down time ritual of choice?
I go to the beach and jump in the ocean as often as I can. Being in nature is essential to reset my brain and ultimately feel human.
My down time ritual involves reading books. If I’m looking at screens too often, it can mess with my sleep, so I actually have a vast collection of soft and hardcover books.
Working from home can sometimes feel isolating. What do you do to help stave off feelings of loneliness or isolation?
I have a great group of purely kinky lifestyle friends I text, talk to on the phone, go to the beach with, and travel to visit. It helps that they understand my work, but the topics of conversation don’t have to revolve around it. The option to play is there, but there’s no pressure either.
Who is your peer mentor, inspiration, or someone you just admire or respect in the industry?
I admire and am inspired by so many people in this industry!
