They always talk about the lock. They always talk about the metal. The cold against the skin. The weight of the cage in the morning, the press of it at night, the small, constant reminder that the body is not free. But I am not here to talk about the body. I am here to talk about the mind. Because the body... the body is easy. The body is simple. The body feels the cage and knows it is bound. But the mind? The mind can wander. The mind can rebel. The mind can forget. And so the question becomes: how do you lock a thought? How do you cage a memory? How do you hold a mind that has learned, for its entire existence, that it belongs only to itself?
