How many hours a week do you think you put into being an online content creator? (It’s kinda scary to think about sometimes, isn’t it?!)
It’s the hours you spend live streaming, as well as all the time you spend answering fan messages. Oh, and don’t forget the hours upon hours you spend editing your videos either! All this, and I haven’t even broached the beast that is social media.
If you’re sighing internally at just how high that number is, then it might be time to unplug for a bit. There is no shame in needing to take some time for yourself. Your most loyal fans will be understanding.
#VicTips: Unplugging from Online Work
1. First and foremost: Be willing to accept that you need time off (This is the BIG one!)
2. Build your content breaks into your overall content schedule
3. Use time blocks to develop a healthy work schedule and commit to only working during those blocks
4. Have a separate work phone (Pro tip: Consider getting an Android for your second/work phone… especially because Loyalfans’ Android app is legit!)
5. Get outside and enjoy nature
6. Hit the gym! Stretching is good too! Don’t forget to make sure “Do Not Disturb” is on when you take time out for your physical self.
7. Treat yourself because you deserve it!
8. Pick up a new hobby. Consider the idea of a “secret hobby” — something you do that’s just for you (read: that you do not share with your fans)
9. Try out meditation or mindfulness
Even after almost two decades in the industry, I still struggle with disconnecting. But even though it can be challenging, taking some time for yourself is essential in helping you be the best content creator you can be!
