The beginning..
It started on a grey Tuesday morning. I took my usual walk from the dorms to the university building—past the old oak tree, past the bike racks, through the main glass doors. Nothing special. Same cracked pavement, same tired faces, same hum of fluorescent lights overhead.
Then she walked in.
The lecturer introduced her as Veronica. New transfer student. But God, she was nothing like the other students. Nothing like anyone I'd ever seen.
She was tall - taller than me, and I'm average height. Her body was a weapon: lean and naturally curved in ways that made my throat go dry. Tanned skin that looked warm even under the cold classroom lighting. Black hair, straight and glossy, falling past her shoulders. And her face—those eyes. Hazel, cat-eye shaped, sharp and knowing. She wore glasses, thin wire frames that somehow made her look both studious and dangerous.
