In my first post<\/a>, I talked about what customs are and what you can do with them. In the second post<\/a>, I offered up things to consider when determining your pricing strategy. Now, on to actual pricing!<\/span><\/p>\n

Actually Pricing the Custom<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

There are many different ways of pricing your customs. Some creators do a flat fee, meaning that no matter what is being done in the video and no matter how long the video is, the price is the same. Some creators have tiers based on length or<\/i> activity. For me, I\u2019ve found that pricing that takes in length, content type, and<\/i> activity is best so that\u2019s what we\u2019re going to talk about. This approach might not work for you, but it is something to think about.<\/span><\/p>\n

My basic <\/i>level customs price on LoyalFans is $125 per minute. This would be for something like a masturbation video or a soft anal solo. I can ask for this price because of the brand I have built over the years. Your basic rate will probably be different, depending on what you do and your audience.<\/span><\/p>\n

When the custom being quoted enters into arenas like I discussed in my previous post<\/a> — lots of prep, props, make-up or<\/i> has something like large object insertion, food play, or intense scripts, my rate goes up to $250\/minute, sometimes more.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then I have to consider time. When I quote videos, I always give a minimum length and maximum length. Some fans do not consider the time it takes to have a real orgasm. Some fans want a length that matches their porn viewing habits but not necessarily my energy level\/physical capabilities to perform.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pricing in Action!<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

I received the below message:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

“Could you make a video of yourself playing and inserting things in your ass while pretending I’m your sissyslave and calling me humiliating, degrading, and disgusting things and directing me to play with and fuck my own ass with toys?”<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

For this request, I already have the toys I need and there are no wardrobe, hair, or make-up requirements. He did not ask for larger toys to be inserted, which means I do not need to spend time before filming doing more-than-basic physical prep. He has not given me a script, only guidelines, so I do not need to memorize anything. This is a basic-level custom when it comes to pricing — $125\/minute.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If I was only doing insertion with no dialogue, I would need at least three minutes to do this properly. But since I have to add dialogue and interact more with the camera, it would be safer to do a minimum of five minutes, but no more than eight because because this is a simple solo video that does not require a lot of time to bring to life. So now we are looking at $125\/minute for at least five minutes, a minimum price of $625.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, as I think this video would sell extremely<\/i> well to my fan base, I am willing to offer a non-exclusivity discount, lowering it to $75 per minute — if he agrees to his name not being used in the video. If he says no, he wants his name said throughout, then the per-minute price stays the same and I do not resell the video. If he takes me up on the discount, the video will go up in my LoyalFans store after I have delivered his copy to him.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In sum: I am paid either $625 for an exclusive five minute video ($125\/min) or I am paid $375 for a video I can resell in my store in order to make up for the earnings lost from the discount.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Timewasters and Other Problems<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

All of us have experienced it: a fan comes on, talks about the custom they want, all the money they have, and how they\u2019ll 100% for sure order a custom from you. You may have seen how these often go one of two ways:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. They get more and more spun up about their custom, talking in great detail about what you\u2019re going to do for them in this video. This is, essentially, free sexting.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. They promise to pay upon delivery and beg, plead, argue, and sometimes insult you until you agree to do it.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In the first scenario, ask them to put down a deposit (e.g. tip) towards the custom. Not for talking<\/i> about the custom, but towards<\/i> the custom. This lets you know that they are actually serious or at least covers your time and attention. If they refuse to pay towards the custom, they are not serious. (I ask for a minimum of $25 towards the custom for smaller videos and $50-$100 for higher priced customs.)<\/span><\/p>\n

    In the second scenario, remember that you are running a business<\/i>. That business, in this case, is custom content creation. Imagine being a baker working on a custom wedding cake\u00a0 or a tailor making a bespoke suit. In no world would you accept payment after<\/i> delivering the personalized cake or making a suit that will fit only your client\u2019s body. Get payment in advance, do not let a fan treat you like less than the working professional that you are.<\/span><\/p>\n

    This trio of blogs hopefully gave you enough information to help you comfortably start offering customs! As you launch this new branch of your business, make sure to create a video menu<\/a> that you can populate with your non-exclusive customs and dedicate the time to work out the right pricing structure<\/a> for your<\/i> customs business.<\/span><\/p>\n
